Community Health Assistance Team, Inc. (CHAT) was officially established as a private non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization incorporated in the State of South Carolina in January 2007 as an outgrowth of a group of concerned friends who annually hosted an AIDS Benefit Foundation's "Dining with Friends" Mardi Gras Gala event. Over a seven year period, the Mardi Gras Committee, as they were known, raised thousands of dollars for ABF.
