The Community Health Assistance Team, Inc. (CHAT) is requesting proposals to provide HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention to African Americans/Latinos who primarily live in the greater midlands community of South Carolina.

The CHAT exists to enhance the health status of African Americans/Latinos by financially supporting those health initiatives which disproportionately impact African American/Latinos communities and by partnering with healthcare providers to promote effective community based prevention efforts.

Grant Award: It is anticipated that the average award will be approximately $1500. One hundred percent (100%) of the grant award will be issued upon the official announcement of the award(s) on December 1, 2009. Funds must be expended and final report received by CHAT no later than November 30, 2010.

Eligibility for Funds: Funds may be requested by non-profit organizations or churches (not individuals) to enhance and/or provide services that will benefit the target population. Funds may not be used to purchase equipment, to cover administrative costs or to pay outstanding debt.  Organizations awarded grants last year must submit the required final report to CHAT (PO Box 2538, Columbia, SC 29202) by November 30, 2009 in order to be eligible for this year's funding.
